Media Roasted for Emphasizing JD Vance Was Booed at Olympics, Ignoring Overwhelming Cheers

Despite claims from much of the mainstream media, Vice President JD Vance received an enthusiastic welcome at the opening ceremonies of the 2026 Olympics in Milan, Italy. Reports from outlets like the AP, USA Today, and the New York Times suggested he was booed, but video evidence tells a very different story.

Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance arrived on Thursday to lead President Donald Trump’s delegation, and when the U.S. was introduced during the ceremony, the crowd’s cheers were unmistakable. While a few scattered groans were audible, they were completely drowned out by applause, chanting, and even some “USA! USA!” chants from the stands. Video footage shows the announcer saying, “The United States of America,” followed by a wave of enthusiastic support.

Yet some in the media, along with Gov. Gavin Newsom’s press office, claimed this was evidence that President Trump and Vice President Vance had somehow “ruined America’s reputation on the global stage.” Turning Point USA quickly called out these false claims, noting that clips clearly show the crowd cheering rather than booing.

As Andrew Kolvet from Turning Point USA pointed out, the attempt by liberal politicians and media outlets to twist a moment of national pride into a narrative of division is disappointing but not surprising. The Olympics should be a celebration of our country, yet some Democrats seem determined to use it to attack elected officials and sow distrust among Americans.

Moments like this remind us that media narratives often have little to do with reality. While critics rush to spin stories for political gain, the American people and the world still recognize and celebrate genuine leadership and patriotism.
