It’s frustrating and frankly alarming how the Biden administration continues to undermine law enforcement and border security. Take the case of Darwin Alexander Davila-Perez, a 33-year-old Nicaraguan national who entered the U.S. illegally through Texas in December 2022. He didn’t just break our immigration laws; he then allegedly tried to buy a firearm illegally by lying about his citizenship and when ICE officers confronted him, he violently attacked them. We’re talking about backing his vehicle into a law enforcement car with an officer inside, elbowing and biting an officer, swinging handcuffs at their head, and even trying to grab an officer’s gun.
Thanks to Biden’s open-border policies and sanctuary rhetoric, these kinds of assaults are skyrocketing. DHS reports show a 1,300% increase in assaults on officers, a 3,200% jump in vehicle attacks, and an 8,000% surge in death threats. Yet instead of supporting law enforcement, this administration is letting dangerous individuals slip back into the country.
If convicted, Davila-Perez faces serious penalties up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine but the real issue is why someone like him was even allowed back into the U.S. after committing such a brazen attack. Democrats’ approach to immigration enforcement isn’t just misguided it’s putting Americans and our officers at risk every single day. Meanwhile, Congress debates enforcement funding and tactics while officers on the front lines deal with the real-world consequences of these policies.
This case underscores the urgent need for real border security and accountability, not political games that endanger citizens and law enforcement alike.
